Uav defense systems identify, track and intercept drones using radar, RF, electro-optical, IR and acoustic technologies.
Interception methods include RF shielding, GNSS shielding, decoy, laser, Nets and ammunition. Systems that combine
multiple technologies can improve detection and interception capabilities to effectively respond to potential threats.
The Drone Defense System is a set of technologies designed to identify, track and intercept unauthorized drones.
These systems are especially important in the military, government agencies, airports, and other critical infrastructure
because they protect against potential threats and privacy violations.
Here are the different types of drone defense systems and how they work:
1. Uav detection and tracking system:
- Radar detection: Small drones are detected by emitting radio frequency pulses and receiving the signal reflected back.
When the drone comes into radar range, it reflects these RF pulses, allowing the radar system to detect it. In order to distinguish
drones from other flying objects, such as birds, radar systems often use complex algorithms for analysis.
- Radio Frequency detection: This detection method identifies drones by scanning known drone operating frequencies.
The detected signals are compared with the drone frequency band data stored in the device to determine if a drone is present.
Photoelectric detection: This method is based on the visual characteristics of the drone, such as shape, color or size, detected by cameras or other optical sensors.
- IR detection: Detects the UAV based on its thermal characteristics. Since the drone generates heat during flight, the IR detection system can identify the drone by detecting this heat.
- Acoustic detection: Detect drones by identifying the unique sounds produced by the drone's motors. The acoustic system relies on a library
of sounds that are known to be produced by drones and then matches those sounds with those detected in the operating environment.
2. Drone interception system:
- RF jammer : Destroys the RF link between the drone and its operator by generating a large amount of RF output.
Once the RF link is cut, the drone may descend to the ground or initiate return mode.
-GNSS jammer : Interferes with satellite signals, such as GPS or GLONASS, to disrupt the drone's navigation capabilities. Drones that lose their satellite signal may stay put, land or return.
